Does malaria occur all over Africa?by Tom Drake 20/01/2014 20:37:00 0 comments 1465 Views
The only countries in Africa that have no record of endemic malaria cases are Libya and Tunisia. However, malaria transmission does not necessarily occur throughout an entire country but rather is generally confined to specific regions with a climate that is favorable for the Anopheles mosquito that carries malaria.
Even within tropical and subtropical areas, malaria transmission will not occur at very high altitudes, during colder seasons in some areas, or in deserts (excluding the oases). Malaria is most common in Sub-Saharan Africa in warm climates with high levels of humidity and/or rainfall.
