Man locks wife in the bathroom all night over sex

A Bulawayo man, in a fit of rage, locked his wife for the whole night in a
toilet after he was denied conjugal rights as she was said to be undergoing her
menstrual periods.
Jonathan Manguyana, 29, of Number 8 Haig Road Sauerstown, appeared before
Bulawayo magistrate Marylene Mtshina facing charges of physical abuse as defined
in section 3 (1) (a) as read with section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter
5:16.
It is the State’s case that Manguyana, on February 25, at around midnight
asked his wife, Fortune Charamuka, 24, for conjugal rights who refused arguing
she was on her monthly period. A heated debate ensued between the two leading to
a harsh exchange of words.
Manguyana grabbed his wife and pushed her into the toilet where he locked her
the whole night, which he referred to as a guest room, according to court
papers.
However, in defence, the accused alleged his wife received calls from a
boyfriend during his presence, resulting in the scuffle.
Manguyana was remanded out of custody to March 28 on free bail.
