DAILY POST: Another reason why RAILA should’ve been President! See how UHURU has fleeced Kenya
The Kenyan DAILY POST News 08:15
Thursday October 8, 2015 - President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, have once again been caught flat-footed after their offices topped in wastage of public resources, a move that has left Kenyans once again regretting electing them to office instead of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga or even Abduba Dida.
According to data from the Controller of Budget, Office of the President and that of his Deputy and Parliament, led in defying the Treasury’s directive requiring them to cut travel and hospitality expenditure by up to 30 per cent.
The Presidency, which comprises Uhuru’s office and that of William Ruto, spent a whooping Sh2.1 billion on travel, hospitality, catering and conferences in the year to June, which is a 75 per cent increase compared to a similar period last year.
Similarly, MPs also spent a substantial amount of money that saw the budget of the Parliamentary Service Commission rise from sh3 billion last year to sh4.14 billion this year.
Domestic trips took the lion’s share of travel budget but foreign travel also rose substantially from Sh632 million to Sh1.17 billion.
