Nigeria professor discovers cure for cancer

The scientist new research discovery  has open a new chapter in search for cure for  the dread Cancer disease with his discovery of Nigerian traditional herbs that show substantial efficacy against cancer, better than the currently used cancer drugs.

Marte shared his knowledge with Sussex Nigerian Society who hosted him in an event titled “Meet the Nigerian Scientist”.

He narrated to his audience how he moved to United States in the late 1990s after his Ph.D and how he was able to hone his competency as scientists and had reportedly received research grant in excess of $5 million to research into cancer.

The scientist explained how he and his team investigated rationale for the traditional uses of Nigerian medicinal plants in the process discovered novel plants with anti-cancer properties.

He said: “We are working to develop cancer therapy from Nigerian traditional plants. We have conducted an extensive screening of many plants with anti-cancer properties, tested them in cell and animal models. Our research has created an evidence base to demonstrate that eight naturally growing medicinal plants in Nigeria have strong anti-cancer properties, especially against breast cancer.”

Commending Professor Marte’s research effort, Nigerian acting High Commissioner in London, Adah Simon Ogah, stated that he was impressed that such ground-breaking research was carried out in Nigeria.

He called on the Nigerian scientist to continue his research as it shows promise for solving world problem and positively influence the global reputation of Nigeria.
