On Wednesday, April 19, President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal and the director general of the National Intelligence Agency Ayodele Oke.
The two senior government officials were suspended for various degrees of infractions against the Nigerian state.
Following their suspension, the president also ordered that the two be replaced by the most persons in their various organizations.

While Oke was replaced with Ambassador Arab Yadam from Plateau state, the SGF was replaced with Habibat Lawal from Bauchi state.

Both officials are expected to function in an acting capacity.
1. State of origin:
Habibat Lawal is from Toro local government area of Bauchi state. She was the most senior permanent secretary in the office of the SGF before the suspension.
2. Date of birth:
Habibat was born on June 3, 1963
3. Educational qualification:
The new acting SGF had her primary school education at Gyamzo Primary School, Toro between 1970 and 1976. She obtained her Senior Secondary School Examination in 1981 from the Federal Government College Kaduna before obtaining a Bachelor's degree in science from the Ahmadu Bello University in 1986.

Habibat further obtained a Master degree from the same institution in 1989 before proceeding to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University in Bauchi state for a doctorate degree.
Habibat was a former permanent secretary at the ministry of women affairs ad social development. She was also a former commissioner of commerce and industry in Bauchi state and later a commissioner ministry of culture and tourism in the state.

She worked as a graduate assistant, senior lecturer, departmental exam officer, projects/ records officer and post graduate officer at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
She also held the position of a director planning, research and statistics at the National Centre for Women Development in Abuja and a director Women affairs at the federal ministry of women affairs.
