Boko Haram attacks Borno using new tactics with 12-year-old boy

- Boko Haram launched an attack that killed a 12-year-old cattle breeder

- The terrorists strapped explosives to the boy's body

- His brother luckily escaped the attack

A 12-year-old Fulani cattle breeder was killed in a bomb blast at Muna Delti area of Jere Local Government Council of Borno State on Saturday, July 15.

A witness, Grema Bana, said that the incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m., at one of the pastoralist hamlets in the area.

Mr. Bana said that the deceased and his brother were returning home after taking out the cattle to a nearby forest for grazing.

According to him, an Improvised Explosive Devise, IED, was said to have been strapped to one of the boys by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

“The bomb detonated at the entrance of the boys’ residence. One of them was killed and the other sustained serious injuries.

“The wounded boy was referred to the Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri for medical attention,” he said.

A competent source at the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, confirmed the incident.

The source said that only the two boys were affected in the blast.

It added that the agency had deployed Emergency Rapid Response team to evacuate the dead and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.

Meanwhile, A 20-year old woman was paraded by the Imo state Police Command for exchanging her 2-month old baby for rice, cement, 6 chairs and the sum of N200,000. gathered the woman, Chioma Fidelis, confessed to the police that she got married out of wedlock and sold the baby because she could not afford to feed him.

Chioma, a native of Ehime Mbano local government of Imo state, said she had no option but to accept the offer because the baby was suffering from kwashiorkor, and couldn't afford to feed the baby well.
