Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are bettling for more than middleweight supremacy when they collide in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The Mexican sensation and the big-punching Kazakh are both vying for the kind of legacy-cementing win they have craved throughout their already glittering careers.

Though the boxing fraternity is divided as to who will win the T-Mobile Arena clash, Golovkin is the slight bookmakers' favourite.

The unbeaten 35-year-old can be backed at around 4/6, while Alvarez is priced around 11/8 to take home the WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight straps.

With both fighters so closely matched, however, the true value may lie in more specific markets.

With 33 stoppage wins in 37 professional fights, it is little surprise perhaps that Golovkin is shorter odds to win inside in the distance (13/8 is the longest price) than over 12 rounds (as wide as 15/4).

The Kazakh KO king has only been the full championship distance once in his entire career - against Daniel Jacobs in March.

It remains to be seen whether Canelo can take 'GGG''s biggest shots. But he is nevertheless a world-class opponent who has never been stopped in his career.

The Mexican's excellent boxing skills and combination punching have not earned him the reputation as a one-punch knockout artist. As such, the odds on him winning over 12 rounds (around 15/8) are far shorter than what you can get on a Canelo stoppage (as wide as 17/2).

There are few concerns over Golovkin's conditioning heading into the fight. But if Alvarez can use his superior speed and reach to frustrate his 35-year-old opponent, backing a late stoppage for the Mexican could prove a wise, if bold, choice.

Golovkin has a superb chin - he has never been down in his career despite his come-forward style causing him to ship regular punishment. Could Canelo be the man to end that run?

The Mexican is not considered a massively concussive puncher. But he has superb punch variety and has finished off recent opponents using body shots, overhand rights and a sheer volume of shots.

At only 27, he looks to be growing into the weight too and is not likely to be the smaller man by a great deal come fight night. Backing him to floor Golovkin at 4/1 may be worth a punt.
