Pep Guardiola revealed Manchester City's stars still need convincing they can conquer in big matches despite two huge wins in a week.

City followed up their five-goal blitz of Liverpool with a win against at Feyenoord, Guardiola's first Champions League away win since taking over.

And the Catalan believes his biggest test this term is instilling enough belief in a camp that under-performed last season.

'Going away in Europe is always so complicated and Feyenoord didn't have one chance,' Guardiola said on Friday.

'That is so important in our terms. I'm trying to convince them they are able to do that.

'Last season we weren't able to win many games against the top five or six in the Premier League and we didn't win away in the Champions League. Believe, we can compete. I would like to give that to my players - more than the tactical issues.

'Sometimes in a bad situation maybe we weren't able to overcome the situation. We have to do that with a strong mentality. So when you see the players, you see they have a big enough personality to play in bigger stages.'

Guardiola - worried Real Madrid could prise away wonderkid Brahim Diaz - laid down a significant marker to City by claiming 'big teams' would beat Watford with minimal fuss on Saturday.

'It's a big test for us. So difficult, so complicated - I'm sure of that,' Guardiola added. 'The big clubs win that game. That's the big difference with the big teams. Serious, don't concede, and win the game. When we can do that I will realise that we've done a step forward to be a better team.'

And the City boss, who has lifted a WiFi ban inside the club's training ground, warned his players to be mindful of their social media activity.

New signing Benjamin Mendy has been prolific on Twitter since arriving and stirred up debate after laughing at Lewis Dunk's own goal after the win over Brighton.

'Be careful what you write, be careful what you say,' Guardiola said. 'I don't like when my players aren't respectful of the club, or managers or the opponents.

'I think the guys we have are exceptional in those terms. Some of them are funny. They communicate through that more than face to face!'
