Kamba's wife dies

Dr Angeline Kamba wife to the first black vice chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe Professor Walter Kamba has died.

She was 82.

Dr Kamba died after a short illness at her home in Hogerty Hills in Borrowdale, Harare.

Born in 1935, the late Dr Kamba was the first black Zimbabwean woman to head the national archives.

The family described her as a pillar of strength and loving mother who was devoted to serve her country

She served the government of Zimbabwe as a public commissioner and director of national archives.

She also served as the vice president of International Council of Archives from 1984-1988.

Before independence she spent many years as a librarian at the University of Zimbabwe and in the UK.

She was also a devout catholic and serving member of the Catholic University of Zimbabwe.

The late also served in the Zimbabwe International Book Fair board.

Dr Kamba who died on the 11th of this month at her home after a short illness in Hogerty Hill, Borrowdale will be buried at the Warren Hills Cemetery on Monday.

She is survived by two sons and two grandchildren.

Mourners are gathered at number 3 Hogsback Lane Hogerty Hills in Borrowdale, Harare.
