Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is holding out for a move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

The Belgium international's current contract with the Premier League champions expires in June 2019 and daily publication Marca have contested claims he is in discussions over extending his deal.

Chelsea's hierarchy are aware of the keeper's priority over returning to his homeland with the 25-year-old is holding out for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich wants the club's No 1 to stay at Stamford Bridge, with Courtois viewed among the top five goalkeepers in world football.

But according to Marca, Madrid have begun their search for a long-term replacement for Keylor Navas believing Courtois to be the most attainable target.

While the Belgian remains happy in west London, there is a growing feeling among those close to the player that his time in the Premier League is coming to an end.

Los Blancos' remain happy that Navas is the current No 1, with the 30-year-old repaying Zinedine Zidane's faith with growing consistency since attaining the position.

Manchester United keeper David De Gea was close to joining Madrid on deadline day in September 2015, and he remains on their radar but the Spain international is set to receive a new contract offer at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak is also a target but the Slovenia international is unlikely to make the move due to his loyalty to their cross-town neighbours.
