- Until Wednesday, October 11, Babatunde Gbadamosi was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party

- The former governorship aspirant in Lagos left the PDP and joined the ADP

- He promised to contribute to the success of the party

Ahead of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a major setback as Babatunde Gbadamosi, one of its strong members in Lagos, has dumped the political organisation.

Gbadamosi, who contested for the ticket of the PDP in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Lagos, joined the Action Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, October 11.

Fondly called BOG, the former PDP chieftain was received by the ADP's chairman in Lagos state, Barrister Nasir Adewale Bolaji, and the executive members of the party.

Confirming the event, the spokesperson for ADP, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, told NAIJ.com that Gbadamosi remains welcomed in the party and that members would accord him the respect he deserves.

Adeoye noted that the ADP is a party that follows due process and has internal democracy.

He declared that Gbadamosi’s entrance into the party was just one as many other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would soon move into the ADP

Speaking while being received, Gbadamosi said he was very happy to join ADP family in Lagos.

He stressed that he will contribute to the development of the party in the state.

He was thereafter presented with a membership card of the party by Barrister Bolaji.

There had been speculation that Babatunde Gbadamosi would leave the PDP, but many reports believed he would join the APC.

NAIJ.com reported earlier how the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Gbadamosi, who was seen by many Nigerians as a staunch critic of the ruling APC.

The former governorship aspirant was later released.
