The Arsenal side beaten at Bournemouth were the 'worst I've seen' turn out for the Gunners, according to Jamie Redknapp.

A young Arsenal side, missing Mesut Ozil and the seemingly exit-bound Alexis Sanchez, were beaten 2-1 on the South coast after a poor performance.

Sportsmail columnist Redknapp pulled no punches after watching the game live from the Vitality Stadium, saying defeat had been 'inevitable' for Arsenal after Callum Wilson equalised for the hosts.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: 'I'd say it is the worst Arsenal team I've seen. If you are looking at the blue chip players of years gone by, Henry, Bergkamp, there's no players who are going to get in the Hall of Fame from this side.

'Arsenal were very disappointing today. It is the same failings, a lack of desire to get back in the game. Bournemouth got it back to 1-1 and you could just see it was inevitable.

'There were no characters out there, no-one pulling people into position. A hugely disappointing result, and a performance'.

Arsenal are five points off the top four and face having to find a replacement for Sanchez, who looks set for a move to Manchester United or Manchester City this month.

Redknapp reserved praise for Bournemouth, however, for who a win lifts them up to 13th and temporarily away from relegation worries.

He said: 'It's a great result for them, but I will be interested in seeing what Eddie Howe has to say, because I don't think they were at their best.

'They needed something just to turn their season around, a result against one of the big clubs. The confidence that will give them, it's a massive result.'
