A former governor of Ekiti state, Segun Oni, has expressed the confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the Ekiti state governorship election scheduled for July 14, 2018.

Vanguard reports that Oni speaking with journalists on Monday, April 16, at the APC national headquarters after picking the expression of interest form and nomination forms to contest the election, said the party had the goodwill to win the poll.

“We have tremendous goodwill out there in Ekiti; the goodwill for this party is there, it is over-flowing and I can tell you that we will win the state.”

Stomach infrastructure programme of the current administration in the state was a farce and a coinage to say something and probably arouse the people,” he said.

Oni said unlike stomach infrastructure, his administration would give priority to agriculture and bring innovation to governance.

Meanwhile, the minister of mines and steel development, Kayode Fayemi, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will ensure that the out-going governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, ends up in jail.

Fayemi made the statement on Saturday, April 14, at a declaration ceremony attended by a large crowd on Saturday in Ado Ekiti, The Punch reports.

The former Ekiti state governor said he was seeking to become governor because he had unfinished business at the government house.

He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should expect another transparent, free and fair election like the one it conducted and won by its then candidate, Governor Fayose.

Fayemi alleged that the election was manipulated by soldiers in connivance with Fayose and two former ministers.
