Interestingly, for the umpteenth time, injury is about denying Balogun a place in Nigeria’s set up. In 2014, the former Werder Bremen defender was excluded from the World Cup team after the big defender sustained a foot injury in his debut game against Mexico.

After the initial hiccups, Balogun returned a better player and subsequently struck an understanding with William Troost-Ekong following Rohr's arrival.
